This page explains how this site makes money and how that is kept separate from the calculator's results.
Affiliate links
Where a link is marked ‘Ad’, it is an affiliate link: if you buy through it, we receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Here “we” means {{OPERATOR_NAME}}, which runs this site; the commission is paid by the retailer or its affiliate network.
How affiliate links are labelled
Every affiliate link is marked Ad. The label appears in the same block as the link, before it, as ordinary visible text, so you can see that the link is advertising before you click it. We do not rely on a footnote at the bottom of the page or on the word "affiliate" on its own.
The labelling is intended to meet the UK advertising rules in the CAP Code, under which marketing must be obviously identifiable as such, and the ASA and CAP guidance on online affiliate marketing.
Affiliate links go through an address on this site beginning with /go/ before taking you to the retailer. They are also marked for search engines as sponsored links.
The calculator result does not depend on any offer
The heat-loss estimate and the BTU/h figure are calculated by the same published method for every visitor, whether or not any offers are shown. No commercial relationship changes the formulas, the default values, the rounding or the result. The method and its sources are set out on the Methodology page.
Offers, where shown, appear only below the result. They are not part of the estimate and are not a recommendation that a particular product suits your room. Always compare a radiator's output at ΔT50 (BS EN 442) with your own estimate. If you need a design for your heating, ask a qualified heating engineer or a Gas Safe registered installer. Guides and content
The guides on this site, such as how to size a radiator in BTU, are written to explain the calculation. Their figures come from the calculator's specification, not from any retailer or network.
Your data
When you click an affiliate link and leave this site, the retailer or network handles your data under its own privacy policy. How this site handles personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy.
