This page explains what personal data this radiator BTU calculator handles, why, and what rights you have. It is written for a small site that has no user accounts, no contact forms, no analytics, no advertising scripts and no non-essential cookies. If that changes, this page will be updated before the change goes live.
Who we are
This site is operated by {{OPERATOR_NAME}}, which is responsible for the personal data described on this page. You can contact us about privacy at {{CONTACT_EMAIL}}.
What we collect and why
Using the calculator. The calculator is a static web page. The figures you enter, such as room dimensions, temperatures and U-values, are used by the page in your browser to produce the result. They are not sent to us and we do not store them. The page records simple interaction events, for example that a result was shown, but these stay in the page's memory in your browser, contain no personal data and are not sent anywhere.
Hosting logs. The site is hosted by Netlify. Like most web hosts, the hosting provider receives technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request and your browser type. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure. We do not use this information to identify you.
Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and the content of your message, including any calculator inputs you choose to share. We use this only to reply and, where you report an error, to check and correct the calculator.
We do not collect special category data, we do not sell personal data and we do not use it for marketing.
Emailing us is voluntary. If you choose not to, we simply cannot reply to you. We do not make decisions about you by automated means and we do not use your data for profiling.
Lawful basis
- Hosting logs: our legitimate interests in delivering the website and keeping it secure (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
- Emails: our legitimate interests in answering your message and correcting the calculator (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
How long we keep it
- Calculator inputs: not kept by us. They exist only in your browser while the page is open.
- Hosting logs: kept by the hosting provider for the period set out in its terms with us. We do not keep separate copies.
- Emails: kept only as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up, then deleted.
Who receives your data
- Hosting provider: Netlify delivers the site and processes hosting logs on our behalf.
- Email: messages you send are handled by our email provider.
- Affiliate links: Where a link is marked ‘Ad’, it is an affiliate link: if you buy through it, we receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Such links go through addresses on this site starting /go/ and then to the retailer or affiliate network. Once you leave this site, the retailer or network handles your data under its own privacy policy. See the Affiliate disclosure.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. You can ask us which safeguards apply to such transfers and how to obtain a copy of them.
Cookies and similar technologies
This site uses no non-essential cookies and does not use local storage or session storage for analytics or advertising. There are no third-party analytics or advertising scripts. Because of that, we do not show a cookie consent banner. If we ever add analytics or advertising, we will update this page and ask for your consent first where the law requires it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (access);
- ask us to correct inaccurate data (rectification);
- ask us to delete your data (erasure);
- ask us to limit how we use your data (restriction);
- receive your data in a portable format, where this applies to the lawful basis used (portability).
Some rights have exceptions, and portability does not apply to data processed on the basis of legitimate interests. In practice, the only personal data we hold directly is in emails you have sent us.
Right to object. Because we rely on legitimate interests, you have the right to object at any time to our use of your personal data. If you object, we will stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or we need the data to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
To use any of these rights, email {{CONTACT_EMAIL}}.
How to complain
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you can contact us first at {{CONTACT_EMAIL}} so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain directly to the UK data protection regulator, the Information Commission (still known as the ICO): online at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by phone on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the way the site handles personal data changes, for example if analytics or advertising scripts are added.
